Fewer meetings. Clearer decisions.

Plainwork is an async decision operating system for engineering teams working in hybrid environments.

Your meetings aren’t the problem

Most engineering teams don’t suffer from “too many meetings”. They suffer from unclear decisions. When decision ownership is fuzzy, deadlines are implicit, and outcomes aren’t documented, teams compensate by scheduling more meetings.Hybrid work amplifies this pattern.Plainwork exists to break it.

What Plainwork actually is

  • A decision operating model for engineering teams delivered in Notion.

  • A structured way to replace meetings with async decisions.

  • A shared standard managers can enforce consistently.

What Plainwork is not

  • Not a meeting productivity tool.

  • Not a note-taking app.

  • Not an AI meeting assistant.

  • Not consulting or facilitation.

30-day pilot

Start with a 30-day paid pilot (€750).Replace one recurring meeting with the system and track resulting actions. The pilot fee is credited toward the annual license.

FAQ

Q: Why use Plainwork instead of a documentation tool like Confluence?
A: Documentation tools are designed to store information. They do not enforce how decisions are made. Plainwork focuses specifically on decision flow and meeting replacement, not knowledge storage.
Q: How does the pilot work?
A: The Plainwork pilot is designed to test the system in a controlled way. With the 30-day pilot the goal is to replace at least one recurring meeting with the system and measure the outcome. At the end of the pilot, a short review determines whether the system delivered measurable value. If the team decides to continue using Plainwork, the pilot cost is credited toward the annual license. If the system does not improve decision clarity or meeting load, the pilot simply ends.
Q: Why are asynchronous workflows valuable in hybrid engineering teams?
A: Hybrid teams often struggle with coordination because team members are distributed across locations and schedules. Asynchronous decision workflows allow teams to gather input without scheduling meetings, reduce calendar fragmentation, give engineers uninterrupted focus time and create written decision history
Q: Does Plainwork eliminate meetings entirely?
A: No. Meetings are sometimes necessary — for example: complex brainstorming, sensitive discussions or rapid incident response.
Plainwork focuses on replacing recurring coordination meetings that exist primarily because decisions are unclear or undocumented. By introducing clear ownership, deadlines, and written decision flow, many of these meetings become unnecessary.
The goal is fewer meetings with clearer outcomes, not eliminating meetings altogether.
